Notebook, 1690-1834.

This notebook contains memoranda (probably written c. 1690) on numerous religious and/or moral topics, often including Biblical and textual references. They are arranged alphabetically, starting with "Affliction" and ending with "Zeal." Sparhawk also recorded the marriages he performed between 1708 and 1718. Sparhawk's son, John Sparhawk (1713-1755), also included entries in the notebook from 1735 to 1754 in which he recorded the births of his children and events leading to his ordination as minister of the First Congregational Church in Salem, Mass. Subsequent members of the Sparhawk family made other genealogical notes, dating to 1834, in the book.
